Final Year PhD Student (Computer Science) - Department of Computing
Hi, My name is Erik. I am a third year PhD student at Coventry University studying in the field of Computer Science. My research is in the field of artificial intelligence, specifically artificial neural networks and deep learning. My PhD topic is an investigation into how deep learning can be used to reduce invariance issues in object recognition for computer vision. I graduated my Computer Science Bachelors (Hons) with a First class from Coventry University in 2014. I currently have two published papers in Springers Lecture Notes In Computer Science.
Outside of university I am a keen scouter and have attended the past two World Scout Jamborees in Sweden and Japan as a volunteer. I am also the president/chair of Coventry University Salsa Dancing Society, Coventry University Anime and Manga Society, and Coventry University’s British Computing Society student chapter. I am a keen outgoing person and I enjoy adventure, and I have successfully tackled both Mt Fuji (Japan) and Mt Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) through my involvement in scouting. I also enjoy making videos in my spare time which I post on youtube: http://hypertora.com/youtube
At New Wizards I hope to demonstrate some of my research from my time at Coventry.
